The MG Astor entry level has elevated its worth because of the coveted value-for-money feature it exhibits. 2025 brought in this subject-swap in prices, disappointing most prospective buyers of the entry-level variant.
The significant pricing has thrown the spotlight on the Astor once again. There are now many re-evaluating their decisions as budget lines have moved quite high for the base model.
Fueling the Drive: What Powers the Astor
It is still the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that powers the MG Astor. The power produced is 110 PS with 144 Nm of torque. In the base model, a five-speed manual transmission is paired with this engine. While performance from the engine is unchanged, the increase in price has left expectations high among users for improved features or some updates at the future time.
Focus on Interior Tech and Safety
However, it is going to be the entry-level version, and it is fully loaded with safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminder, and rear parking sensors. The infotainment feature is bare: this base trim does not support a touchscreen. It’s sad, though, MG does not give ADAS in this version. Still, the overall cabin feel reflects quite decent quality and ergonomic design.
Fit in Comfort and Everyday Features
The base variant lacks alloy wheels and has steel wheels with covers. Add LED DRLs and splendid-looking projector headlamps for the base model and you can bless it with good looks up front. On the inside, it carries fabric seats, manual air conditioning, and basic instrument cluster controls. No folds of the ceiling or a digital cluster: even though it misses out on the panoramic sunroof or a digital cluster, the build quality and layout give it a premium feel for an entry-level SUV.
Now more Expensive: Pricing Update
The new price hike on the base variant of the MG Astor is now at ₹20,000, raising it up to ₹10.52 lakh (ex-showroom). This variation applies to the Style sub-variant, which is the opening chapter of the Astor lineup saga. As of now, there is not any new offer or discount, making this price revision a straight cut without additional benefit.
